92% of murders solved in Ukraine, - Interior Minister

The percentage of solving murder cases in Ukraine is 92% at the moment. This was stated by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

“Statistics show an improvement in security factors. We see that the number of serious crimes, including murders, is decreasing, and this is already a steady trend. As you understand, it’s impossible to falsify statistics on murders: the corpse is either present or absent. So the percentage of solving murder cases today is at 92%," said Avakov.

According to him, such indicators suggest that the police had already experienced a crisis due to a system reset, have gained competence and efficiency in work. In addition, according to the minister, "the socio-political situation in Ukraine has normalized somewhat, as in general, the crime rate is always associated with the situation in society."

The head of the criminal investigation department, Serhiy Tikhonov, explained this with a large number of domestic murders. According to him, if we talk about contract killings and murders with the use of firearms, the percentage of solving such cases is less.
