Two of those arrested on murder charges owned illegally built hotels that collapsed in the city of Durres, in one of the most affected areas.
In total, the prosecutor’s office issued 17 arrest warrants for builders, engineers, and officials suspected of violating safety standards. Eight suspects are still wanted. According to the police, some of them left the country after the earthquake.
