About 70 thousand prisoners throughout Iran will receive an amnesty to curb the spread of coronavirus. On Monday, March 9, at a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, the head of the judicial branch of the country, Khojatoleslam Ebragim Raisi, as Tasnim reports.
First of all, prisoners will be released, who will reveal the disease and symptoms associated with the Covid-19 coronavirus. Raisi also called on judges to grant more prison leave permits.
In addition, the supreme judge stated that the courts are fast on cases involving medical supplies due to the growing need for them. He added that court hearings to consider cases of manufacturers of sanitary facilities are held out of turn.
Raisi also called on relevant officials to address shortcomings in the fight against coronavirus and to immediately support the country's medical workers, "who are soldiers on the front line," in the fight against this disease.
Recall that the number of people who died from coronavirus in Iran increased to 194, and the total number of confirmed cases of infection - up to 6 566. At least 2 134 people were cured of this disease.
