70 percent of all measles cases in Europe are observed in Ukraine. The press office of the UN reported that, referring to the statistics provided by the World Health Organization.

'Over the first two months in 2019 alone, 34,300 cases of measles infection were observed in 42 countries of the region. 13 of those resulted in lethal outcome. All lethal cases are observed in three countries, Albania, Romania and Ukraine. Ukraine has the share of more than 70 percent of all infections in the region, detected in the first months of 2019', the message says.

The UN intends to create the operative centre for administering aid to the European countries that suffered the most. The WHO will assist the countries to increase the inoculation rate and to prevent further spread of the disease.

Since the beginning of the year, 16 people passed away in Ukraine due to various measles-induced complications.
