In Kharkiv region, 50 people were evacuated to the safe zone due to the fires as 112 Ukraine TV channel reported citing Spokesperson of Kharkiv region State Emergency Service Ihor Lupandin.
“All efforts were aimed to prevent the deaths of people. Besides, 30 houses were rescued from fire; 50 people were taken to the safe zone; they were evacuated temporarily,” Lupandin said.
He also noted that the physiologists of the Emergency Service work at the site and they provide aid to the suffered population.
According to a correspondent of 112 Ukraine TV channel, all citizens of burned Horobivka village tell one version, - preliminary, abandoned premises situated in the neighboring village; supposedly the landfill ignited there and burned since the morning. When the rescuers arrived in the site, they started to eliminate the fire; however, the fire extended to other buildings and nobody extinguished them.
“In the morning, everything was good; the smoke was seen. It happens that the landfill is burning. But faster and faster, within minutes, the fire came here. It was quickly extended by the wind,” citizen of village Oleksandr remembered the events, in which his house burned down.
He succeeded to save only documents and the car. Currently, he lives in the neighboring village, where he was evacuated.
The Emergency Service noted that almost 80 hectares are smoldering in Hryanykivka village; however, the open flame is not observed. Two days are needed to completely eliminate the fire.
On September 2, the large-scale fire started in Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.
As of morning, September 3, about 100 hectares of the territory were on fire in Kharkiv region and about 945 hectares – in Luhansk region. 22 houses were destroyed in Kharkiv region and 13 in Luhansk region. Besides, 33 people were settled out; while two people died.
The Cabinet of Ministers prepares the decision to provide aid to people suffered from fires.
Later it was reported that rescuers managed to locate a fire near the burned village Horobivka.
