It’s day two of celebrations of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Over 30,000 Hassidim gathered in the town of Uman, central Ukraine, to pay tribute to their spiritual leader Rabbi Nachman who is buried there.
About 600 Ukrainian and 20 Israeli law enforcers maintain the public security. Currently, the situation is calm.
Earlier, we reported that the National Police expected up to 80,000 Hasidim to arrive in Ukraine for the celebration of the Jewish New Year. Joel Lion, the Israeli ambassador in Ukraine said that as quoted by the press service of the National Police. Head of the National Police Serhiy Knyazev added that even in conditions of the ongoing hybrid war, Ukrainian police workers put in maximum efforts for the worshippers to feel comfortable.
Earlier, the administration of Boryspil airport decided to open B terminal to host the Hasids heading to Ukraine for the celebration of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.
