30 fans of Manchester United football club were killed as "high tension" cable fell on the viewing center in Nigeria. They had gathered to watch the Europa League quarter final, according to Mirror newspaper.
"Twenty eight of the victims died on the spot while two more died in the hospital and about 50 others were injured," agency reports.
The incident occurred in the city of Calabar. Witnesses say that they saw a flash of light from a transformer, after which the electric cable fell on the viewing center’s roof.
Manchester United expressed condolences to the friends and families affected by the tragedy.
