So far, 29 million Ukrainian citizens have signed declarations with their family doctors. Healthcare Minister Zoryana Skaletska posted this on her Facebook page.
"It's March 1, which means the next step in changes in the medical assistance provision will commence in a month. The program of medical guarantees will start working. With the appointment card, one will be able to get the state-paid outpatient treatment and secondary health care, surgical interference, medical examination, get inoculated, tested and diagnosed, and get medications. Currently, 29 million Ukrainians already signed declarations with family doctors. I urge all those who still hasn't - choose your family doctor", she wrote.
The reform of the medicine's primary section (family doctors and pediatricians) kicked off in Ukraine in 2018. By the estimates of Health Index survey conducted in 2019, 73 percent of respondents are fine with their doctors.
The second stage of the healthcare reform in Ukraine will begin on April 1. The National Healthcare Service reports almost full readiness of Ukrainian hospitals to this particular stage; the changes will now concern the services of profile specialists, secondary healthcare and palliative care.
