Nearly thirty members of the Security Service of Ukraine died during the fighting in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This was reported by the head of the service Vasyl Grytsak, the press service of the SSU informed.
“I bow to the twenty-seven Heroes of the Service, who gave their lives for the statehood and freedom of the Ukrainian people,” said Grytsak.
He added that during the same time, 128 security officers were injured. At the same time, 227 security officials were rewarded for their courage and heroism during the Anti-Terrorist Operation or the Joint Forces Operation.
Earlier president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko for the first time awarded the title of general to a woman. The first Ukrainian woman who received the rank of Major General, was the head of the Security Service Military Medical Department Lyudmyla Shugaley. This is reported in the decree posted on the official website of the head of state.
On October 12, Petro Poroshenko signed six decrees on awarding the rank of general.
