In the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, 4,888 cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded, 265 of them have been fatal. This was reported by the press service of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
"According to the latest data, 4,888 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in areas not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, and 265 people have died," the statement said.
It was also emphasized that the situation in Donbas would worsen with the onset of cold weather. The UN adds that there are about 700 people hospitalized there per day, and the health care system will soon not be able to cope with the influx of infected people.
As we reported earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not rule out that his country could provide supplies of Sputnik-V vaccine to Ukraine.
The Russian president added that the sides would have to sign the respective agreement in order for that to happen. He also stated Russia was ready to work in this direction.
"After all, it is a matter of purely humanitarian nature, a matter of healthcare, a matter of care for people that Russia and Ukraine both care about," he claimed.
