More than two dozen Ukrainians aboard the Diamond Princess cruise liner are still not willing to be evacuated to their homeland. Maksym Kovalenko, the Head of the Crisis Management Department of the Foreign Ministry's Consular Service, informed Hromadske Radio about it.
"So far, 24 of them have announced that they do not intend to return to Ukraine now. Another Ukrainian is being contacted," Kovalenko said.
According to him, there were 25 citizens of Ukraine on the liner, two of whom are now in hospital. These are the crew members. Their obligations are determined by the contract, their wishes are also being taken into account.
The Embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health are ready to take all the necessary measures if Ukrainians wish being evacuated from Diamond Princess.
As we reported earlier, two Ukrainians from Diamond Princess cruise liner, diagnosed with a new COVID-2019 coronavirus, have not yet been tested for recovery.
"According to verified and reliable information, citizens of Ukraine, hospitalized with a coronavirus, are in hospitals in Tokyo. They will be discharged after the results of the two tests appear to be negative. At this point, the tests have not been done yet," Director of the Consular Service Department of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Pohoreltsev said.
