Since the beginning of the year, rescue teams managed to save 241 people, including 20 children, from dying in water bodies across the country. The State Emergency Service reported that on Monday.
According to the authority's press service, in most cases, it was the violation of water safety rules, as people bathed in places not designed for bathing, or bathed while drunk. Most of these cases led to 378 fatalities, including 25 children, over the mentioned period.
Since early June, over 40 Ukrainians already deceased in water bodies all over Ukraine. The rescue teams patrol the beaches and conduct the explanatory work among those resting by the water.
The representatives of the service remind that swimming in inappropriate places and under the influence of alcohol are the most common causes of accidents on the water. Speaking of emergency situations with children, such cases happen when children are left unguarded.
Earlier, it was reported that around 870 people died on water bodies within first eight months in 2017.
