24 cases of coronavirus infection were registered at the Olympic Games in Tokyo on July 29. Three athletes are among the infected as DW reported.

It is noted that it is the absolute maximum of infection during the Games starting from the first day of taking – July 1. The total amount of infection at the Olympic Games comes closer to 200.

2020 Olympic Games will become the most unusual ever. The opening ceremony and competitions will take place at empty stadiums: fans are not allowed to admit to the event as the emergency state was announced in Tokyo due to the threat of the increase of the number of coronavirus infection cases.

Nevertheless, the authorities of Tokyo stated about the readiness of the medical system to hold the Games: the population of the city is being actively vaccinated; the safety measures will be increased at the places of the event. Particularly, handshakes and hugs will be canceled; the athletes will wear medals by themselves.

On July 17, the organizers reported the first case of infection with coronavirus in the Olympic village; however, they reported that this person is not an athlete. Later, two footballers from South Africa received positive results of the PCR tests.

On July 23, the solemn opening ceremony of the Olympic Games took place in Tokyo, at 14:00 at Kyiv time.
