Ukrainian cyclist Olena Starikova won a silver medal in the individual sprint at the Tokyo Olympics.

In the fight for gold, the athlete lost to world-record holder Kelsey Mitchell from Canada in two races.

This award became the 19th for the Ukrainian team at the 2020 Olympic Games (1 gold, 6 silver, and 12 bronze medals).

Olena Starikova is the silver medalist of the 2019 World Championship and the European Games in the 500 meter gita track, the gold medalist of the 2020 European Championship in Keirin, multiple silver and bronze medalists of the European Championships.

Earlier, Yaroslava Mahuchikh has won bronze for Ukraine in the women’s high jump at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games with fellow Ukrainian athlete Iryna Herashchenko coming in fourth place.

As reported before, Ukrainian athletes with gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will get $125,000, $80,000, and $55,000 respectively.
