Coronavirus outbreak was detected among ten passengers of Japanese cruise ship Diamond Princess; all are aged from 50 to 80. The vessel is currently under quarantine because an infected 80-year-old man from Hong Kong was on board, The Japan Times reported.
There were some 3,700 passengers onboard. 273 passengers and crew members contacted the sick man; medics had them tested for coronavirus. Ten sample probes proved positive; however, none of the ten showed any serious symptoms.
All the passengers and the crew will remain on board for two weeks, under the orders of the Japanese government.
The Russian embassy in Japan claimed that two Russian citizens were on board; the Japanese outlet reported that there are citizens of 52 various countries on the ship.
As of early February 5, the current death toll of the virus in China makes almost 500 people.
Earlier, the World Health Organization warned that medical masks will not protect against the deadly Chinese coronavirus and wearing it can only help limit the spread of some respiratory disease.
