Earlier, we reported that the EMA (European Medicines Authority) will not be able to approve the vaccine against Covid-19 developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University in January. Deputy CEO of the EMA Noel Wathion said so as quoted by Reuters.

"They haven't even applied", the official told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad in the interview published on Tuesday.

According to him, European regulators only received certain information about the vaccine, which is not enough to "warrant a conditional marketing licence". "We need additional data about the quality of the vaccine. And after that, the company has to formally apply", Wathion stated.

He added that under these circumstances, it is unlikely that the drug will be approved next month.
