16-year-old resident of occupied territories of Donetsk region expresses desire to live in unoccupied Ukraine

A 16-year-old girl living on the occupied territories of Donetsk region came to the demarcation line herself and declared her desire to live on the territory of unoccupied Ukraine. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported this.

"Yesterday, at about 11 pm, a 16-year-old girl came to the position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic near the village of Verkhnotoretske. She and her grandmother, who is her guardian, live in the village of Horlivka and have a passport of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic", the message says.

The police established that the girl, after resting with friends, crossing minefields, deliberately came to the demarcation line of the Verkhnetoretske village. She expressed a desire to live in the territory of unoccupied Ukraine. She allegedly has relatives in Western Ukraine.

Now juvenile police of Donetsk region and social service take care of the girl. Psychologists work with the girl. Until all circumstances are established, the juvenile will be in the shelter under the supervision of police and child custody staff.

It will be recalled that there are about 1,5 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
