According to President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, all 27 EU states-members should introduce certificates from July 1; however, currently, 15 of them have connected to system of digital Covid-19 passports, including Belgium. The official urged EU members to connect to this system until July 1.
“If you want, you can voluntarily connect earlier,” Ursula von der Leyen stated.
Head of the European Commission provided an example showing her own certificate downloaded to the mobile phone. She said that “it is very interesting to check and watch whether this certificate works or not”.
The regulation on the certificates was adopted on June 15. Digital Covid certificate will allow the citizens to travel safely in the summer within the EU borders without extra restrictions.
“Every person who passed the full course of vaccination, has negative result of test or overcame Covid-19 and recovered can receive such certificate,” Ursula von der Leyen noted.
She added that in the case of necessity, the restrictions for traveling can be introduced – for example, in case of coronavirus strain that causes concern. However, such restrictive measures should be proportioned.
It is noted that digital Covid certificate will not be the obligatory condition for traveling to Schengen Area and it will not be considered as travel document.
As we reported, the inner Ukrainian Covid-19 certificate should appear at Diya app on July 1, 2021, according to the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
