149 miners remain under ground in Kryvyi Rih, southeastern Ukraine. They have been on strike for 20 consecutive days now, Strana.ua reported. Mykhailo Volynets, the head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners, posted this on Facebook.
"149 miners of Zhovtneva, Batkivshchyna, Ternivska and Hvardiyska mines have been protesting in the underground for 20 days", reads the message.
Volynets insists it is crucial "to pay maximum efforts for the talks to take place".
Previously, miners of Kryvyi Rih iron ore integrated plant recorded the video appeal to members of the European Parliament, asking to protect their civil and labor rights.
Earlier, miners stopped the strike and rose to the surface at the Nadiya mine, Lviv region, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.
The department said that the best way to pay off the debt to the miners has been found - through amendments to the law on the state budget.
It is noted that the funds will be paid, and the people who brought the enterprise to the crisis will answer according to the law, the department noted. The Ministry of Energy has already transferred the audit materials testifying to violations to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
