136, 000 foreigners, including 96, 000 Russians passed the biometric control at the border with Ukraine. Petro Tsygykal, the Head of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine claimed this to 112.ua.
‘As for today (March 23, 2018), 136, 000 foreigners, including 96, 000 Russians passed the biometric control. Mostly, people from Russia come in commercial cases or to the relatives. The Russian mass media reported that we want to restrict rights and liberties of the citizens of Russia. But there are no questions to the law-abiding citizens, only the recording of the data. First of all, it is the identification and verification of people crossing the border as it decreases the risks and increases our border security’, Tsygykal noted.
The system of the recording of the biometric data for the citizens of 71 countries began to work on January 1, 2018. As we reported earlier the biometric control on Ukraine-Russia state border started working on December 27.
Earlier Vasyl Servatyuk, the First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service claimed that the Russian side responds with the provocations to the implementation of the biometric control by Ukraine.
