13-year-old bicyclist ran over by police car

The Thursday road accident in Kyiv, where 13-year-old bicyclist suffered severe injuries, involved the car of Kyiv police department - not the car from the presidential motorcade. The local branch of the National Police reported that on June 1.

'The accident took place at about 9 p.m., with Volkswagen running over a boy who was driving the bicycle. The kid sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital', the press service of the authority reported.

The criminal investigation on the road traffic violation commenced.

Earlier, 112 Ukraine TV channel correspondent said that the boy was crossing the street, carrying his bicycle; he was moving across the crosswalk, when the car mowed him on a high speed. The boy's uncle told the press that the collision resulted in a number of serious traumas, including the closed cerebro-cranial injury. 

The crowd encircled the car, trying to get the driver out of there; however, 'the police took him for a medical examination to check the alcohol level in his blood', the reporter said.
