13 people died on board of aircraft at Sheremetyevo, - source

As a result of a fire on board a passenger plane that landed at Sheremetyevo airport, at least 13 people died, 6 more were injured. This is stated by the medical services, TASS news agency reports.

Sources in the emergency services assure that the fate of some passengers remains unknown. The resquers are looking for possible dead bodies in the tail section of the liner. Two victims were hospitalized in serious condition.

It has already become known that the plane caught fire after lightning hit it during the flight.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed to create a state commission to investigate the incident. Also, the Minister of Health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova was instructed to provide all necessary assistance to the victims.

After the incident, the Sheremetyevo airport operates in a limited mode - only one of the two runways is working. All flights were diverted to Domodedovo Airport, 10 airplanes are already there.

Today, on May 5, an airliner took off from Sheremetyevo airport, which was supposed to land Murmansk. During the flight over the Moscow region, the plane suddenly began to lose altitude, the pilots requested an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport. During the landing, the liner was already engulfed in flames, passengers and crew members were evacuated.
