128 settlements in Ukraine left with no electricity due to bad weather

Regional power distribution companies in the settlements are already working to restore the power lines

Due to the deterioration of weather conditions, 128 settlements across eight regions of Ukraine are having electricity issues, reads the message of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.  

‘On the night of December 25, as a result of the weather conditions (rain, sleet and wind gusts) the protection system of high voltage lines worked and 128 settlements in eight regions left without electricity, in particular: Dnipropetrovsk region – 46, Kirovohrad region – 43, Mykolaiv region – 16, Chernivtsi region – 8, Kyiv region – 6, Cherkasy region – 5, Zaporizhia  region – 2 and Chernihiv region – 2,’ reads the message.

It is also added that regional power distribution companies in the settlements are already working on the restoration of electricity supply.  

‘Road traffic on the roads provided. 2,000 people and more than 1,500 units of equipment from the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine are involved in ensuring travel on the roads,’ reads the message.

As it was reported, snow and sleet are expected in Ukraine today, the air temperature will drop to minus six degrees by Celsius; the wind is mostly north-western, 7-12 mps.
