12 sailors from arrested vessel Mekong Spirit return to Ukraine from Greece

12 sailors, who were detained in Greece more than a year ago on suspicion of smuggling weapons, returned to Ukraine according to Hromadske.

It is reported that relatives met sailors at the Odesa airport.

"We are tired, we want to go home, rest, I hardly saw my son for a year and a half, he does not even remember me," said one Ukrainian sailor and added that the condition for their return is the monthly check-in at the consulate of Greece in Odesa.

The other crew members - the captain, his assistant and sailors will be in Greece until all the circumstances are clarified, according to the decision of the court.

We recall, the container ship Mekong Spirit was detained by the Greek police on May 25, 2017 on suspicion of transporting military goods. Its members are 17 citizens of Ukraine, including the captain.
