11,490 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Ukraine over the last 24hrs. This was announced by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov on Facebook.
"11,490 new cases of coronavirus COVID-19 were recorded in Ukraine as of December 24, 2020,” wrote Stepanov.
2,721 patients were hospitalized during the last day, 223 succumbed to the disease, and 15,775 managed to recover.
The largest number of confirmed cases was observed in the city of Kyiv (1,377), Zaporizhia (774), Odesa (676), Kyiv (666), and Donetsk (636) regions.
In total, 1,001,132 people have become ill with the disease since the beginning of the pandemic in the country.
As we reported earlier, Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Lyashko stated that the COVAX mechanism might provide Ukraine with 16 million doses of coronavirus vaccine.
"There is a potential possibility that Ukraine will be given 16 million doses through this mechanism - we are talking about it, but so far there are no guarantees. Eight million is a 100% guarantee, 16 is a potential opportunity," noted Lyashko.
