As of the morning of August 2, another 1,112 coronavirus cases were registered in Ukraine over the last 24 hours. This is evidenced by the morbidity monitoring data of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) website.

Thus, the number of patients with Covid-19 in the country has reached 71,168 people. Over the past day, 16 people have died (a total of 1,725 since the beginning of the pandemic).

38,752 (+235 for yesterday) patients have already recovered from a dangerous illness.

As we reported before, the Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization held an emergency meeting regarding the situation with the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The pandemic will be long-term, so global efforts need to be strengthened.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the coronavirus outbreak is still a public health emergency, which is why he is declaring a high alert under the 2005 International Health Regulations.

Also, chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko said that today Ukraine is following the yellow scenario of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Lyashko, a month ago, Ukraine's indicators met the yellow-green scenario. Also, the Ministry of Health predicts that 4 000 Ukrainians may become victims of coronavirus infection, and the total number of cases might reach 400,000.
