Doctors of Mariupol-based vaccination centres will be forced to throw away 1,000 doses of Moderna vaccine. The deadline of storage after de-frosting of this particular batch of the drug approaches, and the medical employees will just have to dispose of it. Andriy Rempel, the head of the Healthcare Department of Mariupol city council said so as cited by Pr.ua.
According to Rempel, 10,500 people received the first dose from this batch. Then, 9,500 of those people received the second one. The remaining 1,000 doses should be used by September 16 - or thrown away.
"After de-frosting, Moderna can be stored for no more than 30 days, and it must be used during this time - until September 16. We urge all citizens who need to get the second dose of this vaccine to reach the medical centres and mass vaccination points", Rempel said.
Besides, he added that some of the people vaccinated with the first dose left wrong phone numbers so the doctors could not contact them.
Moderna vaccine is not going to be supplied to Mariupol anymore.
