The administration of YouTube video hosting has blocked two channels of Russia Today (RT) in German, DW reports with a reference to RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan.

According to her, both channels were removed without the possibility of recovery, but did not explain the reasons for the blockage.

Calling the media hosting's actions a “media war”, Simonyan said she was “very much looking forward” to the banning of DW and other German media outlets in Russia, as well as the closure of German language companies ARD and ZDF. She also demanded sanctions against YouTube itself.

It is noted that the RT DE channels were deleted due to violations of the rules on false information about the coronavirus.

“RT DE has been warned against uploading content that violates our policy regarding false information about Covid-19. This has resulted in the termination of their rights to publish videos. During the termination of this right, owners of said channel attempted to bypass the restriction using a different channel; as a result, both channels have been shut down for violation of the YouTube Terms of Use,” Google clarified.
