U.S. intelligence considers Russia the main suspect in commission mysterious “attacks” at the American diplomats in Cuba, as NBC News reports.

“The suspicion that Russia is likely behind the alleged attacks is backed up by evidence from communications intercepts, known in the spy world as signals intelligence, amassed during a lengthy and ongoing investigation involving the FBI, the CIA and other U.S. agencies. The officials declined to elaborate on the nature of the intelligence,” the news agency reads.

However, Moscow can not be accused officially due to the lack of the gathered evidence.

This fact means that Cuba’s Government is no longer under suspicion.

Earlier, the U.S. State Department informed about the “mysterious attacks” targeted at the American diplomats in Cuba since November 2016. According to the preliminary data, at least 26 people were affected. They had brain injuries, hearing loops and issues with coordination and vision. The officers noted that they heard weird sounds, which might be a sonic weapon.
