At the meeting of the UN Security Council, the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the United Nations Rosemary DiCarlo urged Russia and Ukraine to prevent escalation of the conflict in Kerch Strait, as Ukrinform reported.

“We strongly urge Ukraine and Russia to refrain from escalation and rhetoric, and we remind them both about a need to prevent this incident so that no serious escalating occurs, which could have unpredictable consequences,” DiCarlo said.

The Under-Secretary-General added that this incident "could lead to further worsening of the situation inside and around Ukraine.”
