Artur Panov, the Ukrainian citizen who has been illegally held in detention in Russia, passed away in his cell at pre-trial detention centre. The cause of death was the heart failure.

The Russian authorities charged Panov with alleged preparations for a terrorist act in Russia; the Ukrainian was detained in Rostov region in December 2015, soon after he crossed the Ukraine-Russia state border as a refugee. At that moment, Panov was under the legal age.
The trial in Panov’s case began in February 2017. During his long-lasting detention, the defendant went for multiple hunger strikes, which could have badly worsened his health conditions.
