A Ukrainian, suspected of conducting illegal business, was detained in Belarus, as the website of the Belarusian Committee of State Control reported.

“In early November, 2018, the operatives of the financial police detained two lorries with apples and tomatoes (over 40 tons were seized). This was the last delivery for the group of Russian and Ukrainian traders. A criminal case was opened under the article of Ukraine’s Criminal Code on unlawful business activities. A 32-year-old Ukrainian was managing the illicit business, he was detained and imprisoned,” the message says.

In addition, the investigation on the case is underway.

“During the searches, primary accounting records, stamps, steals and information carriers, which testifying to the illegal activity were seized,” the website reports.

The investigation supposes that the group of Ukrainians and Russians were purchasing fruits and vegetables in Poland and Ukraine in 2017-2018, exported it to Belarus for further distribution in Russia.

“To make their activity look legal, they were using accounting documents of four controlled fake business structures and several individual entrepreneurs,” the message says.

According to the experts, this illegal business brings around $4,500.
