Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry protests the decision of Russian Prosecutor General Office to recognize the activity of Ukrainian World Congress “undesirable”, as the press office of the establishment reported.
It was noted that this decision “showed Russia’s repressive policy directed at the elimination of NGOs of the Ukrainian minority in Russia”.
The Foreign Ministry informed that Ukrainian World Congress registered in Canada is a threat to constitutional order and security of Russia, and they realize it in Russia. The activity of the organization is directed at support of Ukraine’s identity, assistance for military and civilians who suffered from Russian aggression, outreach activities for the youth, preservation of the memory of Holodomor victims.
The representatives of the Foreign Ministry urge the international community to consider the decision of Russia’s Prosecutor General Office “as another severe violation of fundamental human rights”.
On July 11, Russia’s Prosecutor General Office decided to include Ukrainian World Congress organization in the list of international NGOs which activity is undesirable in Russia.
20 million Ukrainians in 133 countries are the members of Ukrainian World Congress.
