Permanent representative of Ukraine to the international organizations in Vienna Igor Prokopchuk urged to prosecute Russia for illegal “elections” in occupied Donbas at the special session of the OSCE Permanent Council, as Ukraine’s mission to OSCE reported on Twitter.
We count on solidarity of #OSCE participating States in making sure that #Russia as occupying State & those involved in preparation & conduct of illegal & fake so called “elections” encounter additional sanctions for committed violation of international law & Minsk agreements— UKR Mission to OSCE & UN in Vienna (@UKRinOSCE) November 12, 2018
He stressed that the elections demonstrated the fact that Russia has neglected the interests of peace and security.
#Prokopchuk: #Russia’s irresponsible behavior makes it again very clear that safe & stable security environment necessary for legitimate elections in occupied #Donbas is only possible when Russian troops, fighters & mercenaries withdraw from territory of #Ukraine— UKR Mission to OSCE & UN in Vienna (@UKRinOSCE) November 12, 2018
The so-called elections took place in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on November 11. The voters elected the leaders of "people's republics" and their representatives in the parliaments of the "republics".
Ukraine, the U.S., and the EU unanimously condemned the voting, considering it illegitimate. Russia still has not commented on the outcome of the election.
