Trump accuses Syria of shooting down Russian IL-20

According to the U.S. President, America and other states are close to eradicating ISIS in the region

The U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Syria was likely to have shot down the Russian aircraft IL-20, as Reuters reports.

“It sounds to me and it seems to me based on a review of the facts that Syria shot down a Russian plane. And I understand about 14 people were killed and that’s a very sad thing but that’s what happens,” Trump said.

He added that the American military “have done a tremendous job in Syria and in that region eradicating ISIS, which is why we are there. And we are very close to finishing that job”.

Earlier several airstrikes were launched at Syrian port Lattakia. Russian Defence Ministry informed that IL-20 with 14 military servicemen got lost. It supposed to have been back at the Russian base Humaimam, Syria.

Reportedly, as a result of Russia’s airstrikes at Syrian province Idlib 13 people died. Later, Russia claimed to be continuing bombardments in Idlib, “if necessary”.
