Three Russian servicemen die in Syria

Three Russian servicemen died in Syria, as TASS reported referring to Russia’s Defence Ministry.

It happened in late February “during battle with terrorists”. Russians, who were returning after delivering humanitarian aid in one of the settlements in Deir ez-Zor, “were ambushed by the militants”. After the fight, Russians went missing.

Russian Defence Ministry informed that “the militants who attacked the soldiers were defined”, and “Russian special forces eliminated the group of over 30 militants” involved in death of the Russian military.

According to the official data, over 100 Russian servicemen died in Syria since 2015.

In December 2017, Moscow announced that it withdrew troops from Syria, soldiers remained on the bases Hmeimim and Tartus only. Despite the Russian career military, mercenaries frim Wagner group also act there.
