The court did not satisfy the cassation complaint of Vyshynsky’s lawyers

The Supreme Court of Ukraine did not satisfy the cassation appeal of the lawyers of RIA News Chief Editor Kyrylo Vyshynsky regarding the lawfulness of his detention. The press service of the Court reports this.

“On Monday, May 27, the joint chamber of the Criminal Cassation Court of the Supreme Court of Ukraine did not satisfy the cassation complaint of the lawyers of Kyrylo Vyshynsky concerning the decision of the investigating judge of Kherson city court of Kherson region on May 28, 2018 and the decision of the Court of Appeal of Kherson region on the refusal to open the appeal proceedings on June 5, 2018,” the report said.

The full text of the court’s decision will be declared on June 3. One can find the final document in the Unified state register of court decisions. 

As it was reported, the former RIA News Head Kyrylo Vyshynsky was transferred to Kyiv to the Lukyanivska prison

Earlier, Kherson City Court extended detention for RIA News Head Kyrylo Vyshynsky to April 8.

On May 15, the Security Service (SBU) considered the detention of the head of RIA News Ukraine agency’s office.

Kremlin has already responded to the incident and called the actions of the SBU outrageous. Besides, Russia promised to assume reciprocal measures. Then, the state sent a protest note over searches at the mass media office.

The actions of Vyshynsky were preliminarily qualified as the state treason. The same day the SBU reported that Kyrylo Vyshynsky is now officially suspected of state treason.
