The meeting of Ukrainian and Russian presidents makes no sense for Russia. Vladimir Dzhabarov, the first deputy head of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of the Federation said so, commenting on the recent proposal made by Volodymyr Zelensky. He said this in a commentary for TASS news agency.
According to Dzhabarov, "it's a statement by a good actor".
"He offers a meeting on Ukrainian Donbas. Why on Earth would our president meet with him in Donbas, which Zelensky actually doesn't have under control", the Russian senator said.
Dzhabarov offered Zelensky to meet with leaders of "people's republics" in Donbas, since, as he put it, Russia is not a party to this conflict. The Senator also said Zelensky "wanted to make a statement" prior to the speech of Putin before the Fedreal Convention scheduled for April 21.
As is known, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky offered his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to meet in any location of Donbas where there's war going on. He said so in his video address.
"Mr. Putin! I'm ready to go even further and offer you to meet in any location of Ukrainian Donbas, where there's war going on", he said.
President of Ukraine added that during the session on April 19, the Normandy Four counselors discussed an opportunity to meet on the contact line in Donbas.
