Famous Russian TV host and journalist Ksenia Sobchak said she will run for president of Russia in 2018, as she wrote in a letter, published by Vedomosti.

“In five years since the protest wave of 2012, my political views have formed completely, and I am ready to declare them at any level, including the highest,” she wrote.

Sobchak also calls on all political powers for help.

“I’m inviting all political powers, who are ready to use my running for president, present their claims against the current situation and power as a part of our campaign, because it’s not Sobchak’s campaign, it’s the campaign against the arrangement of our political and social life today. Sobchak’s campaign is not just agitation “against everyone”, it’s, as I hope, a big work, explaining why we are “against all those,” she added.

Later on, Russian TV channel RTVI also informed Sobchak would run in the next election. They say that she is to play the same role as billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov did in the 2012 election. Prokhorov received 7,98% of votes, and Sobchak can obtain about 8-9% if her campaign is good, the RTVI source said.

Ksenia Sobchak is a Russian TV anchor, journalist, socialite, and actress. Sobchak became known to the wider public as a host of the reality show Dom-2. She is sometimes described as "Russia's Paris Hilton". Now she is an anchor at an independent TV channel Dozhd, and an active member of the opposition.

It is worth mentioning that Vladimir Putin was an aide to Sobchak’s father at the beginning of his career.
