Slovakia expels Russian diplomat on suspicion of spying

Slovakia expelled one of the Russian diplomats, as Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini said, Reuters reported.

According to him, the military intelligence defined that the Russian conducted espionage against Bratislava and NATO member states.

“We expelled him on November 22, and he left Slovakia within 48 hours,” Pellegrini said.

At the same time, the Prime Minister did not specify the status of the diplomat.

According to TASS, the Russian Embassy in Slovakia would not comment on this.

Slovakia was one of few European states, which did not join a mass exile of the Russian diplomats due to possible involvement in the Skripal’s case. Then, Ukraine expelled 13 Russian diplomats, and Russia declared 13 Ukrainian diplomats persona non grata.
