Shooting on Ukraine-Russia border: Ukrainian side did not observe any shots

Ukrainian border guards did not observe any shooting near the Russian border. However, Ukrainian and Russian representatives of respective authorities will meet to sort out the details of the recent incident, which occurred on the territory under control of FSB Border Guard department in Voronezh and Belgorod oblasts. Ukraine's State Border Guard reported that on December 4.

Previously, the Russian FSB stated that a shooting incident took place on the border with Ukraine. The firefight occurred between the Russian border guards and the illegal migrants who tried to enter Russia. The showdown resulted in one fatality among the culprits; the other two escaped. 

In turn, the Ukrainian side claimed that no shooting was detected near the Russian border. Besides, the Ukrainian authority added that the reported incident occurred on Friday midnight, and the Russian side informed the Ukrainian State Border Guard just at 11 a.m.

"The Russian side did not immediately inform Ukrainian border guards of any unusual situations on the common section of the state border", reads the message.
