Singer Yuliya Samoylova officially confirmed that she will perform in the occupied Sevastopol on May 9, the day of first Eurovision semi-final. This was reported by TASS referring to the press service of city’s "authorities".
"Today Yuliya Samoylova confirmed her participation in the concert on May 9 Victory Day in Sevastopol. As the singer noted, words of support from Sevastopol residents are very important and valuable to her," press service informed.
It was also noted that right after Russia’s decision to refuse from participation in Eurovision-2017 song contest, acting head of the city sent a message to the artist asking her to come and perform in Sevastopol on May 9, 2017. Samoylova thanked for the invitation and noted that she will perform at the concert "with pride in her heart and great pleasure".
On April 13, the European Broadcasting Union officially confirmed that Russia will not be able to perform at Eurovision 2017.
Previously, Ukraine’s Security Service banned entrance for Russia's Yulia Samoylova for three years – due to her previous performances in the Russian-annexed Crimea.
