Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs critically appraised the statement made by Netherlands prosecutor Fred Westerbeke on the involvement of the 53rd Brigade of the armed forces of the Russian Federation in launching a rocket at Boeing 777 Malaysia Airlines in 2014. The corresponding statement was posted by the Ministry's spokesman Maria Zakharova on her Facebook page.
She was outraged by media reports on Westerbeke’s claims on the presence of witnesses of the BUK rocket launch.
"I was walking in the forest. Beech (its Russian version sounds like a 'Buk' - 112 International.), poplar, ash ...," this is how, according to Zakharova, all the witness statements sound.
"Disgusting. They have made a travesty of that tragedy," the spokeswoman of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
As we reported earlier, the Netherlands prosecutor Fred Westerbeke stated there were witnesses to testify that the rocket, which had struck the Boeing 777 Malaysian Airlines (MH17 flight) in 2014, had been launched by a Russian Armed Forces brigade.
According to him, there is no doubt the missile system came from the 53rd Brigade of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
"I would say I have an eyewitness. And how many, I did not say how many," Westerbeke said.
