The Investigative Committee of Russia opened the criminal proceeding against Yevhen Volnov, the Ukrainian pranker who claimed that about 300 people died in the fire in Kemerovo, Russia as the press service of the committee reported.
‘On the results of the held check, the investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened the criminal proceeding due to the incitement of hatred or enmity against Mykyta Kuvikov, the citizen of Ukraine known as Yevhen Volnov in the internet. According to the investigation, he publicly spread the inaccurate information about the number of the victims of the fire in Kemerovo, misleading the relatives of the perished and suffered and attempted to destabilize the situation’, the message said.
It is noted that the Russian investigation intends to appeal to the court for the choosing of the restrictive measure in the form of the arrest in absentia for Kuvikov. Also, the pranker will be put on the wanted list soon.
Volnov claimed to RBK that the number of 300 died people was announced, taking into account the number of the seats in the cinemas. At the same time, he claimed at ObozTV that he spread information about 300 perished in the fire at the shopping mall in Kemerovo to make Russian citizens think on the way their country behaves toward Ukraine.
‘My goal was to allow the large range of the citizens of Russia to feel what I and whole Ukraine feel the fourth year. It is possible to call me with some horrible words but it is so’, Volnov said.
Earlier the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation claimed that Ukrainian pranker Yevhen Volnov spread the information about 300 fatalities during the fire in Kemerovo.
As it was reported earlier, the shopping mall caught fire in the Russian city of Kemerovo on March 25. According to the Emergency Service, the fire occurred on the fourth floor where the cinema and children’s playgrounds were situated. The Investigative Committee of Russia considers two version of the tragedy: short circuit or use of the open fire. According to the last data, 64 people died. It was noted that 41 of them are children.
On March 27, the citizens of Kemerovo showed up at the rally with the demands to publish real data about the perished at the fire.
Five people were detained due to the fire at the shopping mall. Also, Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia signed the order that announced March 28 as the day of mourning due to the tragedy in Kemerovo.
