The Foreign Ministry of Russia called Chargé d'affaires of Ukraine in the Russian Federation Vasyl Pokotylo. He was notified about the strong protest due to the protest against the diplomats of the Embassy of Russia as the foreign ministry reported.
“On March 17, the Foreign Ministry of Russia called Chargé d'affaires of Ukraine in the Russian Federation Vasyl Pokotylo, who was notified about the strong protest due to the protest held in Kyiv on March 16 against the diplomats of the Embassy of Russia in Ukraine,” the message said.
The Foreign Ministry of Russia stated it demanded from the Ukrainian side to assume urgent measures for holding of the strict investigation of the events and prosecution of guilty.
It is noted that near the building of the Embassy and residence place of its employees, the posts were placed with photos of the Embassy diplomats with comments of offensive nature. Besides, four cars of the Russian diplomatic mission were damaged.
“The Ukrainian diplomat was notified that the Russian side considers this provocation as another gross violation by the Ukrainian side of the paragraphs of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961,” the message says.
At the end of February, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) published on a Facebook a photo of a billboard near the Russian Embassy in Kyiv. The board contains coat of arms of the SBU and sign “Crimea is Ukraine”. Later, it was reported that the billboard was installed illegally and it should be dismantled.
