Russia’s TV Channel 1 will not be broadcasting Eurovision 2017 song contest, slated in Ukraine in May. Such decision was made after the Russian side rejected the options offered by the European Broadcasting Union – those regarding this country’s representative at Eurovision Yulia Samoylova.

‘The EBU still offers us two options –Yulia’s remote performance or replacing her with another contestant; we consider both options unacceptable,’ the TV channel said.

Previously, Ukraine’s Security Service banned entrance for Russia's Yulia Samoylova for three years – due to her previous performances in the Russian-annexed Crimea.
