Russian vessels monitor U.S. destroyer in Black Sea

The forces of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation organized the routinely monitor of the American destroyer “Donald Cook”, which entered the Black Sea as TASS reported.

“On February 19, 2019, at 17:00 at Moscow time, the guided missile destroyer of the United States Navy“Donald Cook” entered the waters of the Black Sea. The appointed forces and means of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation organized the routinely monitor of the American destroyer,” the message said.

The Buyan-class corvette “Orekhovo-Zuevo” and intelligence vessel “Ivan Khurs” follow the American destroyer.

“Donald Cook” aims to the Black Sea through the Dardanelles Strait to hold the operations on the provision of the security and enhancing of the regional stability, increasing of the operational status and military and naval capacity along with the allies in NATO and partners in the region.

As we reported Werra, the warship of the German Navy will join the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group Two (SNMCMG 2) in the Black Sea. 

Earlier, Germany reassured that it was ready to continue the support of Ukraine in the de-escalation and deterrence of the Russian armed aggression, including the provision of the military presence of the naval vessels of German Navy in the Black Sea as Ukraine’s Defense Ministry reported.
