Liman, the research ship of Russia’s Black Fleet sank 40 kilometers away from the Bosporus Strait. Hurriyet reported that with reference to the Turkish coastal guard.

The accident took place about Thursday noon. The Russian vessel ran into Ashot-7, a transport ship that flew the state flag of Togo. The Russian ship got a breach in the hull, turned on the right side and eventually drowned; 78 crew members were evacuated, the Turkish side said.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that information later today. Both Russian and Turkish agencies say none of the sailors deceased or suffered injuries.
