Mi-24, the gunship of the Russian Air Force crashed in Syria. The actual incident took place on December 31; however, Russian Defense Ministry only reported this on Wednesday, January 3.

Two pilots deceased in the crash. An engineer, who was also aboard the aircraft survived; he was evacuated to Khmeymim airfield, where the Russian Air Force squad is currently stationed.

The Russian authority claimed the helicopter never took fire; the reason for the crash was a 'technical malfunction', it said.
