Aleksandr Zalichev, Russia's two-time champion in duel rifle shooting is involved in terrorist activity in eastern Ukraine, as he served along with pro-Kremlin militants - specifically, the Wagner PMC - in Donbas in 2014. Ihor Guskov, the official representing Ukraine's SBU, the state security service said that in his interview with one of Ukrainian TV channels.
'We have repeatedly informed the society about the activity of the Russian mercenaries, known as the Wagner Group. We've got personal data on almost 2,000 people from that group. As we continue to look into their activities, we face more new facts showing the attitude of Russian special services - and certain individuals - to Ukraine,' he said.
Guskov specified that Zalichev sided with the Wagner Group mercenaries, serving as a sniper. 'Based on the open-source data, we found out that he is Russia's two-time champion in duel rifle shooting, and the acting member of Russia's national team in tactical shooting - at least he was in 2014-2016,' he said.
Ukraine's state security service asked Sports Minister Ihor Zhdanov to share this information with fellow national sports federations.
